Self-care is in.
It's being talked about in social media channels, in online communities, and in magazines. Self-care isn't selfish, nor is it indulgent or frivolous; it's actually a life-saver.
It's very similar to routine maintenance you would do on your vehicle. The basic things that need to be performed in order for the car to keep running. If those things aren't done you can't expect it to keep running efficiently, and it may even stop all together until it gets the help it needs. The same goes for our physical bodies. They require care and maintenance in order to perform well and feel good.
Just like most vehicle maintenance isn't all glamorous, your self-care routine doesn't need to be fancy, expensive or Instagram-worthy either. Yes, sometimes it's great to go to your local spa for a massage or facial, but more often it means getting alone for ten minutes of deep breathing, leaving your phone on silent for an afternoon. Saying no to certain obligations, going to bed early and taking "me" time can be hard. However, it is always worth it!
