Gratitude in the Frozen Land

When you go to the kitchen sink what do you expect to happen when you turn on the faucet? Running water? Yeah, me too. This morning was a different story. Yep, you guessed it, NO running water. Frozen. As we worked through the process of elimination on where exactly the problem was, there were a lot of reasons we found to have gratitude.

None of our faucets worked. Not in the bathrooms, laundry room or kitchen. We assumed that all the pipes were frozen, but instead we had a frozen “well head.” The well head is where the housing and electronics are for our water well. This fall we had intended on building an insulated well house to keep the “well head” cozy all winter long, but simply didn’t get it done. Too many projects on the “must do” list. Can you relate? The little gratitudes of the day included, no frozen pipes, being able to thaw the “well head” so we could get our water running again, and showering (I know the little things in life ;) + healthy bodies/minds to deal with the project.

But, the biggest gratitude was in the process of learning from our mistakes. Learning to prioritize our projects the best way we can. Learning that calm heads during emergencies can accomplish much and make quick work of a problem. And finally learning that laughter is so therapeutic!

I hope you are having a good day and you can call out a few things you’re grateful for too.
